Jesse Pinkman & The African Smoke Headshop

The local cannabis industry has gotten off to a flying start since the cannabis laws were amended in September 2018. It has really allowed the local industry to flourish, giving us some amazing brands such as the African Smoke Headshop.

Weed accessory stores are popping up, CBD is everywhere and the local growing industry is off to a flyer. Things are looking up for this new industry and the people of South Africa are loving it! However, the budding market is already getting an overflow of gimmicky products and offerings with every Tom, Dick and Sipho trying to make a quick buck off the green rush. Many are jumping on the train and simply flooding the market with rubbish.

With that said, there are a couple of brands out there shining well above the rest in the work that they’re doing. One of those brands is the African Smoke Headshop. These dudes are going above and beyond to provide the local cannabis community with premium services and products.

We had a chance to catch up with one of the dopest dudes in cannabis – Jesse Pinkman. A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of welcoming Jesse to our offices and we had an absolute blast meeting this foot soldier of the cannabis movement in South Africa.

Jesse works with the African Smoke Headshop, bringing one of the widest ranges of rad cannabis products, accessories and services to South African soil. Offering just about anything, from your more standard bongs, pipes and papers to unique access to extraction products, trim bags and extraction services. Jesse even goes so far as to provide rosin pressing, training and various consultations. The man further specialises in low stress training and solventless extraction methods.

They have just about everything a local cannabis enthusiast could need or want. Their online store is one of, if not the best online cannabis focussed stores in South Africa.
A pride and joy of their store at the moment is their locally made Warthog Rosin Press. This is a relatively compact rosin press that any avid bud consumer can own.

Jesse came by to show us how this rosin press works – and man is it simple! It’s hard to believe that just about anyone can buy one of these and make their own rosin and dabs from the comfort of their own home – in just 3 minutes as well! We couldn’t believe this at first, but we witnessed it with our own eyes. It really is that straightforward.

This rosin press can be bought via the African Smoke Headshop website – and if you don’t actually know how to use it, Jesse himself can teach you all that you need to know. It does cost a pretty penny, but it’s well worth it as you’re getting an easy to use, premium quality product! It’s an all-inclusive product too, coming with all the necessary hand pumps and hydraulics.

When it comes to quality, they have spared no expense. The plates that will press your bud are gold anodized aluminium – ensuring a quality press every time by maintaining the heat better than steel. A built in thermocouple is also included to provide accurate heating temperatures at all times. These important factors, as well as the other little features which make life that much easier, come in a package that is only 365mm tall.

Jesse also proved to us, in many ways, just how knowledgeable he is when it comes to cannabis. Being an avid smoker for many years, this man has learnt it all. So much so that he now spends a lot of his time helping other members of the cannabis community expand their knowledge and be introduced to the deep world of cannabis.

He is not just using his vast array of knowledge for personal gain, but is putting it to work by spreading the cannabis culture far and wide. Jesse is just one of the many cogs that keep the local community turning, but it is his personality and willingness that sets him apart from the rest.

The homies at the African Smoke Headshop have time for anyone and everyone. Whether you’re new to cannabis or a seasoned veteran, they will take care of you and welcome you into the cannafam with open arms. Just be sure to contact them before 4:20 😉

Be sure to follow Jesse and the African Smoke Headshop on Instagram to keep in the loop! If you’re at The Cannabis Expo over the weekend, they’ll also be having a sale on some of their dopest products – so pop past and grab yourself a couple of sweet goodies.
