Bong
A bong is a tool used to smoke cannabis. This piece of equipment is usually a long tube of sorts with a larger base, such as a beaker in science class, which is then filled with water. The cannabis is packed into a 'bowl', attached to a downpipe which then enters the water and allows the smoke to be filtered.
C Liquid
An e-liquid that contains research chemical which triggers the cannabinoid receptors in the brain.
Cannabinoid
Cannabinoids are the closely related compounds, such as CBD, THC or THCV - which are the active compounds found in cannabis. These interact with our endocannabinoid (ECS) system to provide the effects experienced when consuming cannabis.
Cannabis Cup
A cannabis competition that started in the Netherlands for the best-grown cannabis strains and has been adopted into cities around the world.
Canoeing
Canoeing is when the joint you have rolled starts burning faster on one side than on the other.
CBD
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC it does not provide the high effect but does provide many of the medicinal properties of cannabis.
Clean Green
Clean Green is a term used to describe smoking straight cannabis, as opposed to mixing it with tobacco.
Couchlock
When one consumes cannabis, sits down and then cannot get up from the heavy body high. This is often associated with Indica strains.
Curing
Curing is a step in the cannabis growing process. This step ensures proper ageing and drying of your harvested cannabis. Done properly, this results in a cleaner and smoother smoke, as well as improving flavour and potency.
Dab Rig
A rig, resembling a bong with some minor differences, specially made for smashing massive dabs.
Dagga
A South African slang term for cannabis. This mostly has a negative connotation thanks to the days of prohibition by the Dutch and Afrikaners.
Edible
Cannabis edibles are made by infusing cannabis (often as a butter or oil) into foods such as brownies or gummies. This is a potent, slow releasing method of getting high.
Endocannabinoid System (ECS)
The ECS, or endocannabinoid system, is our biological system made up of endocannabinoids. These endocannabinoid neurotransmitters bind to cannabinoid receptors, which are expressed throughout our central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS).
Entourage Effect
The Entourage Effect is the mechanism in which numerous cannabinoids or compounds from the plant work together to provide an overall enhanced effect. It is the belief that cannabis compounds work better in unison as opposed to when used on their own.
Greenhouse
Cannabis that is grown outdoors under the protection of a tent or typically a glass enclosure that still lets natural light in.
Greenies
The addition of cannabis to the system after one has consumed alcohol can cause bad disorientation and sometimes vomiting.
Harvest
Harvesting is the final phase of cultivation. Timing is everything in this process, determining the time best to cut down and trim your plant and it's buds.
Hemp
Hemp is the cannabis plant grown for mostly industrial purposes. Hemp is used for fibre to make rope, clothing, paper and more.
Herb
Slang term for cannabis. Mainly due to the appearance of the buds once it has been cut up as it resembles herbs.
Hippie
Hippies are associated with a subculture rising in the 1960s. This group rejects societies norms and is further associated with hallucinogenic and psychoactive drug use.
Hybrid
A hybrid variation cannabis strain containing characteristics from both Sativa and Indica plants.
Hydroponic
The process of growing plants in liquid, gravel, and sand by adding nutrients without the use of soil.
Indica
Indica is a variation of the cannabis plant. This variation has broad leaves and a shorter build, associated with relaxing and calming effects.
Indoor
Indoor is a method of growing cannabis. This is usually done in a tent stored within the household, or done in a large room. This method allows the grower to control all variables, from the amount of sunlight received by the plant to the correct PH balance of their water.
Irie
A term of endearment in the Jamaican culture. It is used as a term of approval or greeting, meaning: nice, good, or pleasing.
Ketamine
Ketamine is used by medical practitioners as an anaesthetic and is used illegally to get people high. Ketamine creates a psychedelic effect.
Maul
Mauling is the act of cutting your weed or breaking it down from bud form to a more workable form, particularly for rolling purposes.
MDMA
Also known as Molly, Mandy, or Ecstacy, this is a psychoactive drug used for recreational purposes.
Microdosing
Consuming small threshold doses of a psychoactive substance, to avoid the high but improve ones day-to-day life.
Mix
Mix commonly refers to mixing your bud with tobacco, which allows some to stretch their weed and make it last longer or helps a joint burn better.
Monger
A term used when someone doesn't know when to stop smoking weed after getting high. They keep smoking even though they're as high as they can get.
Outdoor
Another growing method for cannabis. This is the "old school" method of growing. Unlike Indoor grown plants, not many variables are controlled in this. One can simply plant a seed in some soil and let nature take course.
Plug
A 'plug' is essentially a dealer, this is the person who provides you with the supply for your stash.
Puff Puff Pass
This is the general rule when smoking a joint with others. Out of respect and fairness, so that everyone gets a turn, each person can take two pulls before passing it on!
Red Eye Jedi
This is what happens when you get high as hell and your eyes glaze over and become bloodshot.
Sativa
Sativa is a variation of the cannabis plant. This plant is usually taller with narrower leaves, and is associated with uplifting effects on the mind.
Shrooms/Magic Mushrooms (Psilocybin)
Shrroms are a group of mushrooms containing Psilocybin. When ingested, these mushrooms provide a range of psychoactive experiences.
Skits
A term used when someone is behaving in a weird way, usually as a result of a copious amount of drugs - Eg: "Oi mate, you skits bru"
Terpenes
These are compounds found in cannabis, as well as numerous other plants. Terpenes are responsible for the aroma and flavour of various cannabis strains. These further interact with cannabinoids in cannabis and influence its effects.
THC
THC, also known as tetrahydrocannabinol or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is an active compound found in cannabis. This is the compound responsible for the 'high' effect, which may include minor hallucinations, sensitivity to sound and colours, relaxation and increased hunger.

A method of heating a substance to high enough temperatures so that you can inhale the vapour.
Wacky-tabaccy
A slang term for cannabis. This term came about because of the effects of cannabis and the method of smoking it like a tobacco cigarette.
Wangover
A wangover is a weed hangover. This is experienced after smoking a little too much, resulting in a foggy feeling the next day.
Zonked
Getting too high from cannabis and losing control of yourself and almost going into a vegitative state
